Adding your name to the voters’ list
Visit RegisterToVoteON.ca for information on eligibility, registration and how to check, update or add your information to the voters’ list. For questions related to voter registration, email info@registertovoteon.ca or call 1-866-242-3025.
On or after September 1, 2026, you must apply to the municipal clerk to update or add your information to the voters’ list. You have until the close of voting on October 26, 2026, to apply for any changes. If you are applying to add your name to the voters’ list, you will be asked to provide proof that you are eligible to vote.
IMPORTANT DATES:
Nominations open Friday, May 1, 2026. Nominations may be filed during regular office hours of 9 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday, until 2:00 on Friday, August 21, 2026.
The nomination fee to be paid at the time of filing is:
$100 for a member of council and
$200 for Head of Council (Mayor).
The nomination fee may only be paid in cash or certified cheque.
Election Day is Monday, October 26, 2026 and voting will take place at the MacLennan Hall, 762 MacLennan Road.
One Advance Vote will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at the Township Office, 27 Barr Road South, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

If you are thinking of running for Council, it is important to be aware of the Township’s elections policies.
Please read the following carefully and reach out to clerk@tarbutt.ca if you have any questions.
Nominations for the English Public School Board Trustee position will be filed with the municipal office in Echo Bay (The Township of Macdonald, Meredith and Aberdeen Additional) as the lead municipality. Nominees should attend at their office, located at 208 Church Street, Echo Bay, ON. P0S 1C0, and they are strongly recommended to reach out ahead of time to schedule an appointment to file. Please email laceyk@ontera.net or call 705-248-2441. Office hours are 8:30am – 4:30pm Monday – Friday.
To run for one of the other school boards, please contact the City Clerk’s office in The City of Sault Ste. Marie at election@cityssm.on.ca
