Due to a planned loss of supply, Algoma Power requires 2 electrical service interruptions for all customers in the following area: The communities of Garden River First Nation, Echo Bay, Desbarats, Bruce Mines, St. Josephs Island and any associated areas east of Sault Ste Marie Reference #37 Tuesday August 26, 2025 between the hours of 9:15 am and 9:45 am Reference #38 Wednesday August 27, 2025 between the hours of 5:00 pm and 5:30 pm Alternate date: NA These interruptions are required for substation maintenance. For safety reasons please do not perform any work in conjunction with these outages. All customer work requires direct planning through Algoma Power’s Customer Service Department. While outage work is performed as effectively and efficiently as possible, circumstances may arise that shorten or extend these events (such as equipment failure, inclement weather, scope of work, etc). Algoma Power regrets any inconvenience this may cause for our customers.

The Township of Tarbutt Office will be closed for the Civic Holiday on Monday, August 4, 2025. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. Payments can still be made in the drop-box at the Township Office located at 27 Barr Road South, Desbarats, ON.
Due to a fire ban issued effectively immediately (August 1st, 2025) in the Township of Johnson, the Joint Landfill will not be accepting wood and brush products until the fire ban is lifted.
