The current build area includes communities within the approved North Shore and regional build footprint, specifically Lively, Espanola, Thessalon, Iron Bridge, Huron Shores, Bruce Mines, Echo Bay, Desbarats, Whitefish, Manitoulin Island, and Elliott Lake, along with select nearby rural areas within those zones. The federal government has extended the overall project timelines into 2027; however, the majority of construction is expected to be completed in 2026. Work is being delivered in phases, with timelines varying by location based on permitting, engineering sequencing, and seasonal conditions. In the near term, there are pockets in Desbarats, Lively, Whitefish, and Gore Bay that were expected to go live. Most other areas will not see home fibre drops until spring, once winter conditions lift and construction resumes more broadly.
